At Vamos Expeditions we work with passionate people in an environment where you can be yourself - whether that's in one of our offices or on the road in the amazing countries in which we operate.

Tour Leader
Do you love your country so much that you want the entire world to come and share in your culture, history and magnificent surroundings? Do you love traveling? Are you fluent in English and Spanish, and/or other languages? Are you experienced in managing group dynamics? Have a strong background in customer service and/or travel industry? Are you a well-organized, flexible, people person with a good sense of humor?

If you answered yes to the above questions. Why not consider a career as a Vamos Tour Leader? We may have the adventure job that you've been looking for.

Vamos Expeditions’ tour leaders are responsible for making people's holiday dreams come true. Their backpack is their office, the local hostel is their bed for the night and the commute to work might be a boat down the Amazon. Our passengers have diverse ages and interests and a multitude of different reasons for embarking on a trip. For most clients the only Vamos Expeditions’ employee that they will have contact with is the tour leader. The main responsibility of a Vamos Expeditions’ leader, therefore, is to help them explore their particular areas of interest and to make sure all passengers have a fun, safe, time. The level of success of each trip is determined by the leader.
We are strongly committed to principles of responsible Travel and want like-minded people to become Group Leaders: energetic, friendly, intelligent, honest and fun loving. You must be extremely well organized and have exceptional problem solving and people skills to give our travelers the best possible experience. Broad travel within your region (country/continent) and a love of working with people are real assets in this job - and make no mistake - it's fun but it's demanding too!

What is required in order to be a Vamos Expeditions Tour Leader?

1. Sound leadership skills:
We look for people who have a good sense of group leadership and who have demonstrated these skills in past experiences.

2. Excellent People Skills:
We look for leaders with an ability to communicate with people from varied cultures and backgrounds.

3. Awareness of, and Commitment to, Sustainable Tourism:
We look for people that are committed to environmentally and culturally responsible tourism.

4. Resourcefulness:
We need leaders who have a good head on their shoulders and are resourceful and able to take action to resolve problems, as they often arise in times of stress. Leading can be pretty frustrating at times and we need people who are able to take charge and deal with local circumstances.

5. Bilingualism and language skills:
Most Vamos Expeditions’ tours are operated in English so a good command of the English language (spoken and written) and the local language is mandatory.

6. Good health:
It may seem obvious but we do need leaders to be physically fit and healthy to withstand the combination of long hours, and often mentally and physically challenging conditions. You have to be the friendly, happy leader even when it's raining and you've got diarrhea!!

7. First Aid/CPR Certification:
Leaders must be prepared to act in any type of emergency. Standard First Aid Certification and CPR are required at the start of a contract to ensure your ability to assist with minor injuries in remote locations. The costs of certification are the responsibility of the new leader.

8. Background in basic accounting/budgeting:
Experience working with budgets or developing a personal budget is an asset. Knowledge of Excel is a real bonus.

9. Computer literacy:
Knowledge of internet/E-mail/Microsoft Word/Microsoft Excel is an increasingly important asset.
