Day 1. Arrival to Lima – Connection flight to Juliaca
Welcome to Peru !!! You will arrive to the International Airport Jorge Chavez, in Lima, Peru. From here connect with a short flight to the Andean town of Juliaca. A member of Vamos Expeditions will be waiting for you to take you to your hotel in Puno located at the shores of the Lake Titicaca,. On the way, you have a chance to visit the pre-Inca Sillustani funeral towers, located next to the Umayo Lake. These towers are part of one of the largest and most important necropolis in the world. With the light of the altiplano region you can make excellent photo’s here.

Day 2. Lake Titicaca Day Trip
We take you on a boat trip on the highest navigable lake in the world and take a tour to the islands of the Titicaca Lake. First we explore the fascinating floating reed islands of the indigenous “Uros” population. Our local guide will explain you about the local traditions of these islands made out of Totora reeds. Then, our trip continues to the island of Taquile, known for its well-kept traditions, we wiell make a little hike on the island and will have lunch outside with a beautiful view on the lake. In the afternoon we go back to Puno by boat.

Day 3. Puno – Cusco by Andean Train
Travel by train over the altiplano to Cusco. On the way you will enjoy amazing altiplano landscapes. You will arrive to Cusco in the later afternoon. Someone of our staff will wait for you to take you to your hotel, then you have the change to explore the main square and get a first view on the historic center and try one of the many good restaurants in town.

Day 4. Cusco
We will take you on a private tour in Cusco and the nearby Inca ruins. Our local guide will explain you everything while you explore this fascinating city. In the afternoon you are free to make photographs in this amazing city that was once the heart of the Inca Empire.

Day 5. Sacred Valley of the Incas
Today we’ll take you on around in the Sacred Valley of the Incas to make pictures in the most beautiful sites of this fertile valley with different interesting Inca sites and colorful local markets. In the afternoon you take the train to Aguas Calientes, the town just below Machu Picchu where you’ll spend the night.

Day 6. Machu Picchu Santuary
After a very early breakfast at the hotel, we make our way to the bus station for the ride up to Machu Picchu Sanctuary (30 min). Our trip leader will give an introduc- tory 2 hour guided tour of the ruins, after which we have the option of climbing the steep staircase of Huayna Picchu, a steep and vertically quite challenging hike that takes about 2 hours which affords great views of Machu Picchu. Afterwards, we meet up with our guide and return by bus to Aguas Calientes for a late lunch and to catch our train. The ride from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo takes about 1,5 hours, and then a private vehicle will drive us back to Cusco (an additional 1,5 hour). Upon arrival in Cusco (approximately 7 or 8 p.m.), we will bring you to your hotel.

Day 7. Amazon Jungle
A short flight brings you from Cusco to the town Puerto Maldonado, located in the Amazon basin. The Amazon area of Puerto Maldonado is known as the capital of biodiversity in Peru. Our local nature guide will wait for you in the airport and will guide into another world. You will drive to the local river port and enter a motorized canoe that will take you to our jungle lodge. Here you will have lunch and in the afternoon you will start to explore the area in search of wildlife.

Day 8. Amazon Jungle
Today you will enjoy a full day of nature and jungle exploration with your local guide. For all meals you return to the comfortable jungle lodge and there is time to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of this romantic place. An ideal way to end your holiday.

Day 9. Lima – departure
Return by motor canoe to the little town of Puerto Maldonado for your flight back to the capital Lima. You may connect with your international flight tonight.
