To travel by train through Peru is amazing, it´s a very sustainable, comfortable and relaxing way of traveling and the landscapes you will travel through are some of the most diverse and beautiful on Earth.

Day 1:Arrival in Lima
Arrival in Lima, reception and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Cuzco
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital. After the one hour flight, reception and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, a guided tour of Cuzco including the cathedral, Qoricancha temple, the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman overlooking Cuzco, Qenko and Puka Pukara. Return to the hotel. Dinner in the evening followed by a folkloric show.

Day 3: Train to Aguas Calientes
Transfer to the railway station for the train to Aguas Calientes. Full day´s guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world. Accommodation overnight in Aguas Calientes.

Day 4: Machu Picchu and train to Ollantaytambo
Opportunity to enjoy a wonderful sunrise over Machu Picchu and some personal time for private reflection. Return to Cuzco in the evening. Reception and transfer to your hotel.

Day 5: Trans-altiplano rail to Puno
Transfer to the railway station for the wonderful trans-altiplano Inca express. Lunch onboard the "Orient Express" of Peru. Reception and transfer to your hotel in Puno.

Day 6: Lake Titicaca
After breakfast, a tour by boat to the island´s of Uros and Taquile on Lake Titicaca. A tour of the reed islands of Uros before continuing to Taquile, where members of this self-supporting island will welcome you and offer a glimpse into their ancient traditions and customs. Lunch on the island and an opportunity for some spectacular views over the haunting beauty of Lake Titicaca. Return to Puno and your hotel.

Day 7: Flight to Lima
Journey towards Juliaca, and an excursion to the Silluastani towers. These ancient funereal towers dating back to pre-inca times are examples of the most ancient cultures found on the altiplano. Transfer to Juliaca airport for the flight to Lima. Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Day 8: High railway journey to Huancayo
Transfer to the railway station for what was for a long time the world´s highest railway journey to Huancayo. Passing through Galera station at 4781m this is the highest standard-guage railway station in the world. Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Day 9:
Free day to explore the city and its surroundings at your own leisure.

Day 10:
Daily excursion to the Chanchamayo valley, the coffee capital of Peru. Here the growers, using age old techniques roast the fine arabica beans into what is widely regarded as the best coffee in Peru.

Day 11:
Fabulous train journey south to Huancavelica on the affectionately named "Macho train". Running alongside the Mantaro river and through some stunning mountain scenery, you will eventually arrive to Huancavelica, a very seldom tourist frequented town. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 12:
A chance to enjoy Huancavelica and her surroundings at your own pace. Perhaps a visit to the petrified forest of Sachapite just outside of the town or just relax in the termal baths near Lircay. The surrounding countryside is littered with many ancient ruins awaiting discovery.

Day 13:
Spectacular trip to Lake Choclococha, a huge inland sea across from where lies the remnants of an ancient village. You will have an opportunity to see many species of bird including Andean geese and hawk eagles as well as some vicuñas that come down to drink by the lakeside.

Day 14:
Long trip back to Lima through some unforgettable, rarely-ventured Peruvian countryside. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 15:
Leisurely day with plenty of opportunity for shopping before your transfer to the airport and your return flight home.
