Day 1 Arrive in Lima

Welcome to Peru! Arrive in Lima at any time, there are no planned activities for the day so check into our hotel and relax. In the evening we will have a group meeting to discuss the plan for the next 4 weeks, verify questions and get to know each other during a first Peruvian dinner.

Day 2 Pisco

Free morning to explore Lima. In the afternoon we catch a bus to Pisco, a fishing city on the Pacific coast. Here you can eat the best seafood, and try Peru’s national cocktail, the Pisco Sour. 

Day 3 Ica, Huacachina and Nasca
In the morning we have an optional excursion to the Ballestas Islands, where you will be able to see hundreds of sea lions, penguins, dolphins and fantastic birds. We will travel south to the desert of Ica. On the way we will visit a local winery and Pisco distillery. After seeing how Pisco is made and sampling some we continue our route to an oasis called La Huacachina, where you have the option of going off-roading and sand boarding in the dunes. It’s unforgettable! In the late afternoon we continue our journey 2 more hours south to Nasca, where we will be able to try Pachamanca, food cooked in a very old, traditional style. 

Day 4 Nightbus from Nasca to Arequipa
In the morning you can take an optional flight over the mysterious Nasca Lines. Afterwards we have an included tour of the Pre-Incan cemetery of Chauchilla, where you will see how the Nasca culture buried their people. Parched bones and 1,500 year-old mummies reveal Nasca as the cradle for the ancient Paracas culture. Tonight we catch a comfortable night bus to Arequipa.

Day 5 Arequipa

At 2,325 m (7626 ft) above sea level, Arequipa, Peru’s second largest city, exhibits a delightful colonial past. It is surrounded by the Andes Mountains and lies in the shadow of Chachani, El Misti and Pichu Pichu volcanoes. With our free day in Arequipa, we have the opportunity of white water rafting at the Rio Chili. Later, explore this beautiful white city. Have lunch on the balcony overlooking the stunning Plaza de Armas, or wander through the Santa Catalina Covent, breathing in the tranquillity.

Day 6 Colca Canyon

The scenery changes dramatically today as we head off to the Colca Canyon, possibly the deepest canyon in the world. This evening we can enjoy the outdoor thermal baths in Chivay.

Day 7 Colca Canyon
Two nights in the Colca Canyon area allow time to acclimatize and enjoy several short hikes around the canyon. From the edge of this awesome natural wonder we might have a chance to see the magnificent condors soaring on thermals rising from the canyon below. 

Day 8 Puno 

Our journey today takes us through the Andes to the town of Puno on the shores of lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.

Day 9 Lake Titicaca / Amantani island 

Today on our boat trip to Amantani, we will visit the floating reed islands of the Uros people. We stay with local families in traditional homes, having the opportunity to learn about the life on the island and local traditions. In the afternoon we can walk up to the top of the Island to visit an ancient temple that pre-dates the Inca civilization, from here you get great views of the Peruvian and Bolivian shores, the mountains surrounding the lake and a fantastic sunset. 

Day 10 Taquile island - Puno-Cusco

In the morning we leave Amantani to visit the neighbouring island of Taquile. After lunch we return to Puno. The afternoon is free for shopping and visiting the town. We take a comfortable overnight bus to Cusco.

Day 11 Cusco
Today is a free day in the Imperial City of the Incas. There is time to wander the maze of streets or take part in one of the variety of activities Cusco has to offer. You can take a city tour including the nearby ruins or join any other optional excursions such as rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, bungee jumping, etc.

Day 12 Sacred Valley / Aguas Calientes

We will continue our trip towards the city of Pisaq in the Sacred Valley of the Incas; we will visit the traditional market and the majestic Inca ruins. After lunch, we will continue crossing the Sacred Valley of the Incas until reaching the fortress of Ollantaytambo where we will leave our vehicles to continue to Machu Picchu by train. We will spend the night at Aguas Calientes (the village of Machu Picchu). 

Day 13 Machu Picchu - Cusco

We wake up early and you have a guided tour of Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. After this you have plenty of free time to explore further on your own and hike up to the Sun Gate. In the afternoon we take a train back to Cusco and you will be transferred to your hotel. 

Day 14, 15 Amazon Jungle
A flight from Cusco takes us to the jungle community of Puerto Maldonado. From here we take large motorized canoes up river to our jungle lodge located at the shore of the river, in the heart of the Amazon. The two days ahead will be spent spotting wildlife in small groups lead by our naturalist guides and enjoying the local food. We may see caiman (alligators), monkeys and many species of birds including parrots and toucans, The Tambopata Rainforest Reserve holds the world record for the greatest number of bird species in one area. 

Day 16 Lima

A flight will take us back to Lima, the day is free for you to explore ancestral, colonial and modern areas of the city of Kings tonight we will take a night bus to Huanchaco where we will stay in a hostal in front of the beach.

Day 17 Huanchaco
Free day in Huanchaco to enjoy this little beach town and see how the local fishermen still surf the waves with their totora reed boats as in ancient times.

Day 18 Trujillo
Today you have a private tour of Trujillo and Chan Chan, the tallest city build in clay by the pre-Inca Chimu culture. We also visit the temples of the Sun and the Moon. We spend the night in the colorful colonial city of Trujillo.

Day 19 Chiclayo

We travel to Chiclayo to visit the grave and museum of the Lord of Sipan, the king of the Mochica culture. His tomb with fine jewelry was one of the richest found in history. Overnight in Chiclayo.

Days 20, 21,22 Los Organos or Máncora beach

We leave the city early to the paradisiacal beaches of northern Peru. There are plenty of optional activities you are able to do such as surfing lessons, go fishing for Marlins, whale watching (in the season), marine observations, sun set sails or just relax at the beach.

Day 23 Lima

Fly back to Lima in the afternoon, last chance to get your shopping done and prepare yourself for a last night out in Peru.
