Verified Magical Peru made easy! We just returned from a nine day trip to Peru completely organized by VAMOS expeditions and it was one of the best adventure trips of our lives. I interviewed a couple of travel agents when we were getting ready to plan our trip and once I met Annelies, I knew she was the perfect fit for our family. She is a perfect balance of highly organized, years of local knowledge and experience, and a very relaxed and easy-going personality. She is wonderful to work with. Once we arrived in Cusco, we met our guide Naty who was incredible. She was with us for our entire time in the sacred Valley and Machu Picchu and felt like a family member immediately. She was a great fit for our family of two adults and two teenage girls. She had endless amounts of knowledge. I don’t think there was a question we asked that she didn’t know the answer to, from history to flora and fauna, to food and culture. She was incredible. Every place we went exceeded our previous day. I chose Vamos Expeditions to organize my trip and the experience was awe-inspiring and stupendous. This was my first time in Peru and I needed everything to be perfect. The staff at Vamos Expeditions proved to be personable, reliable and superior planners. Their tour guides were knowledgeable, fun to be around and they went above and beyond to make my trip memorable and an experience to sigh for.My first contact with Vamos Expeditions was with Annelies who proved to be patient, thoughtful and resolute in making sure she understood my needs and work within my budget. She communicated with me regularly and I knew she was a professional by the way she attended to the details. Once we agreed on the pink dolphin adventure and the Machu Picchu Expedition, I knew I was in good hands.I was traveling alone because unfortunately my wife was unable to make the trip. On Saturday, February 8th when i departed the USA, I knew exactly every detail of my itenary because it was documented and shared early. I know the name of the person who i will meet at the airport, the hotel that I will stay, the flight details to head to Iquitos and the expectations in Iquitos and Nauta. From the moment I met Carolina and Victor (driver) at the airport to Walter (driver) the next morning, i knew my trip was going to be unforgettable. They were kind, reliable and on-time.One of the most memorable parts of my trip was when I met Daniel Macedo and his staff who were assigned the uneviable task of exploring pink river dolphins along the yanayacu river. I didn't get to swim with the pink dolphins but I got much more. I got videos of them; I learnt about their habitats plus the remarkable local myths and legends about them.I was nearly in tears on my birthday, February 10th when I noticed how much effort was made to make sure it was a birthday to yearn for. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner were prepared with me singularly in mind given that i am a sophisticated eater and a pescatarian. The staff came out to sing Feliz Cumpleanos Pedro (video available). I received a birthday cake with special greetings on it. I received a poster and a t-shirt with greetings in both Spanish and English plus pictures of Llamas, pink dolphins and Machu Picchu. We even had a party in the night where they taught me the cumbia dance and I taught them bachata and Salsa. For those of us living in the northern hemisphere, the month of February is the peak of winter. However, Peru is in the southern hemisphere and experience summer and rain. Lima was relatively warm but Iquitos and Nauta were pouring rain and the temperature was chilly.Normally I would rate this part of the adventure a 12 out of 10 but because of the lack of warm water to shower and the suspension of light in the room at 10 pm at the ecolodge, I gave them a 9.999 out of 10. Daniel was a fantabulous tour guide and he left me many times speechless because of his wealth of knowledge about the vegetation, the culture and the various species. Cudos to Daniel and his team because they went above and beyond to find pink dolphins and to ensure that I was well fed and entertained.Next up was Machu Picchu. When I met Jaime Zuniga, my new tour guide, I never knew my trip could get any better. We had two days to explore one of the seven wonders of the world and oh yes, Jaime hit it out of the park. We traveled to Machu Picchu by train from Cuzco and his English was flawless. His breadth of knowledge of the region was more than impressive. I was blown away by the grandiose Machu Picchu and Jaime was friendly, professional and explained everything in simple terms. I had two of the best days of my life treading the mountains, laughing, dressing-up for picture-taking, being fascinated by Llamas and intrigued by the local rituals around the mountains and celestial beings.The trip ended on valentines night and Jaime made sure I was safe and secure back on my trip to Lima then subsequently to Atlanta.I would recommend Vamos Expeditions as a perfect tour guide and planning team for anyone who wants to explore Peru and have the time of their life. I will never forget the exceptional service from the meticulous Annelies and Carmen, the extremely pleasant Carolina, the tour guides of the year Jaime Zuniga and Daniel Macedo.Thanks a million, Vamos Expeditions, you take the worry out of a trip of a lifetime.Verified Wonderful 9-day trip to Peru with Vamos Expedition We booked a 9-day trip to Peru for 4 people with Vamos Expeditions, and we couldn't have been happier with the results. First of all, I worked with Annelies on the trip program back and forth for a couple of weeks, and her responses were always timely and she accomodated all the requests I made.The trip itself was amazing, and all was taken care of by the Vamos Exp. team, from internal flights (Cusco-Lima), to hotels, means of transportation (train, van), and site entrances.The guides, Carolina in Lima and Marisol in Cusco, were amazing, very knowledgeable, very friendly, and very accomodating. The trip was tailored to our pace, and both were flexible to accomodate last minute changes without a problem. Interesting tips from our guides also led us to some high-quality culinary experiences such as the restaurants Chicha in Arequipa and Cusco and Punta Azul, La Mar and La Rosa Nautica in Lima.
