Photo blog of a short trip to Markahuasi from Lima
Nothing but good vibes on this short trip! A beautiful 4 hour ride from the coast of Lima brings you to the mountains and the tiny village of San Pedro de Casta. This is the base camp from where you get to magical rock forest of Markahuasi. You can go by horse (or donkey) or hike up and/or down to the town of Markahuasi. You can also partially drive up by car and then hike. (then you only need to hike aprox. 20 minutes). It is an incredible escape from Lima. You can sleep in the town of Markahuasi to acclimatize to the altitude or get up immediately and camp high up at Markahuasi. Be sure to take your time to explore this place. With a little bit of imagination you will find different figures in many of the hugh rocks. The road to Markahuasi is beautiful but one should be careful.
